You collapse at the summit, even though it is hot and there is no shade.  You can see the snow capped peaks of the  mountains, the outlet of the Dvina river, and St. Sophia's monastery on its island in Black Sea.  Below, stretching from the sea in the east towards the west, where you suspect it may fade away, the fissure cuts through the land like a gaping wound.  The trail continues west.
